About
I’m Caroline. I'm a product designer by profession and someone who enjoys making things in general. I currently design healthcare software for care managers at Astrana Health, helping to untangle complex workflows and deliver better patient care. I'm also the director of print design at Sine Theta, a creative arts magazine by and for members of the Sino diaspora.
I studied computer science at Barnard College/Columbia University with a minor in art history, which has helped me approach design with both a systems mindset and an appreciation for craft. I'm originally from North Carolina and Guangzhou (in that order), but I currently live in New York City, where I explore cafes, make clothes, and read a lot.
My values
I like designing complex things that are deeply useful—products that make hard things easier, not just prettier. Some of my beliefs:
- I design for impact, not just output. A project isn't done when the Figma file is polished—it's done when it's shipped, used, and delivering value (as much as design can ever be "done").
- I'm always learning. Whether it's a new design tool, a context-heavy workflow, or insights from my teammates, I approach my work with curiosity and adaptability.
- Great products come from effective collaboration, not working in silos. People work better when they're aligned on goals and priorities and they share the necessary context.
